Laurie White

Director

Laurie White is a counselor, educator, writer and communications professional with a commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges. She began her career as a counselor with the Alzheimer’s Association, working with families navigating dementia care in Dayton, Ohio, and the Greater Washington chapter in Fairfax, Virginia. She went on to serve for over a decade as a college counselor and professor at Montgomery College, specializing in academic and career development, and life transitions.

In addition to her counseling background, she has extensive experience in strategic communications and multimedia storytelling across sectors including healthcare, education, media startups and local government. Her work has helped amplify the voices of communities and individuals often left out of traditional narratives, particularly in the areas of recovery, mental health, and wellness.

A certified yoga teacher, reiki practitioner and mindfulness meditation guide, she is also in long-term recovery from alcoholism and is passionate about breaking intergenerational cycles of addiction and trauma—a commitment that motivated her to speak in middle and high schools for Arise & Flourish several years ago. She brings both lived and professional insight to this work, believing deeply in the power of stories and human connection, prevention, education, and hope.
